Shakespeare spins the comic tale of a midsummer night of mischief, magic, and mayhem as lovers, fairy folk, and a hapless troupe of actors bumble about in the woods.  Puck, the master mischief maker, casts spells of enchantment to tease the run-away lovers and mock his lord and lady, and impishly show us how “the course of true love never did run smooth.”
