New plays by Knox students, faculty, and alumni* playwrights will be performed in stage readings. Selected weekends will be devoted to original works directed and performed by students and faculty. Each performance will be followed by a post-performance discussion in which the playwrights receive valuable feedback from the audience and creative teams as part of the development process of each new play. Studio Theatre, Friday and Saturday nights, April 5 – May 18.
New to New Plays Festival? Here’s how it works:
Whether you’re a Knox student, alumnus, faculty/staff member, or Galesburg area resident, if you’ve written a play, we want to read it. Email your scripts to firstname.lastname@example.org by January 16, 2019. A Google form will be sent back requesting contact information for notification purposes. Fill it out, submit it, and then take a minute to be proud of yourself: you wrote a play that is now being considered for a drama festival, and that’s a big deal.
Student Reading Committee
Members of the student reading committee read (and select) the plays that will be staged for the festival. Applications (available here) are due by November 16, 2018.
Student directors corral, encourage, and--yes--direct the actors who will give voices to the characters of the festival’s plays. Applications (available here) are due by February 6, 2018.
Students will read for the characters in the selected works. Auditions will be held March 21-22, 2019.
